| Bio: | Name: Roger Bates/Dante Gender: Male Race: Half demon, electrcity Actual Age: 32 DOB: May 14, 1975 Physical Description: Roger has blonde hair, blue eyes and a dazzling, goofy smile. He shot up late in his teen years, topping now at 6'3" and 175lbs. He has a slender build, muscular from running track and playing football in high school. His skin is tanned and clear. Distinguishing Marks: None PB: Neil Patrick Harris Personality: Roger is the all american boy. He grew up in a small waterfront town where everyone knew most everyone, but if your family wasn't started there (despite you having spent your whole life there), you were never officially a "townie". Roger likes classic guy things- sports, cars, beer. He rarely takes himself too seriously and always has a pleasant word to say. He's well mannered, polite and simple. Dante, however, is a total, unapologetic prick. He strikes without warning, looks down on humans and is completely capable of killing someone. Bio: Roger Bates grew up in a duplex in Bristol, Rhode Island. But his story began halfway across the country in a two bit town somewhere in Oklahoma. His mother Pam was a waitress at a small diner off a dusty highway, working for meager tips and barely satisfied with her life. It was a typical sort of tale- a small town girl, shy and quiet, living her uneventful life when a man came into it, turning her world completely upside down. His name was Beck. He was tall, blonde, and could actually start the juke box just by hitting it. Beck was a dangerous kind of man with a leather jacket and a motorcycle, and Pam fell for him hard. Their relationship was sick and sordid. He treated her like trash, and Pam would always come crawling back to him. Their lovemaking more closely resembled rape, yet she would not leave him. Beck was up front with her about himself- he was a demon of electricity (which explained the juke box trick), he didn't and would never love her, and there was a very real chance that having sex with him would kill her someday. So, of course, Pam set out on a mission to change him. She read up eveything she could about demons (even found a school about it in a very obscure reference place), trying to find they key to whatever would make Beck love her. Three months later he was gone, after Pam had alienated herself from her friends and family and burned too many bridges to reconcile. And of course, four weeks after that, she found out she was pregnant. Pam moved to Rhode Island without saying goodbye to her family, without telling them she was with child. She was too ashamed, too scared to admit to them that they were right, that Beck would never have wanted her. So she got into her car and drove east until she hit a coastline, and that's where she stayed. She had a baby boy, Roger, and she knew something was wrong because whenever he cried at the hospital, the lights would flicker and computers would go on the fritz. Pam had almost given her son up for adoption, but she realized that no other mother would take him, no one would understand. If Beck really was a demon, and she had all evidence to believe he was, then Roger was half demon. He would need someone who could help him supress that, someone who actually knew what demons were capable of. Roger managed a normal enough upbringing with his mother. Together they learned how to figure out what his capabilities were, when they became most active, even how to avoid him over-zapping appliances. Pam gave her son a solid rubber dog toy to hold onto whenever he felt his body's electrical current overtaking him, so he could focus all his energies into it. It was big enough to get a good hold on, but small enough to fit into his backpack and, as he got older, his pocket. Luckily he hadn't melted it yet. The toy, which Roger had named "Zweeby", became both a safety precaution as much as a comfort item. It was his security blanket, something he never left home without. The demon side of Roger was something Pam told him to keep hidden at all costs, something he could never talk about, never turn into. She didn't want her son becoming anything like Beck. It would be hard enough for him to fit in being poor and only having one parent. Pam shuddered to think about the torch-and-pitchforks reaction Roger would get if anyone found out what Roger really was. His mother had told him briefly about his father, about being half demon. She seemed more concerned about quashing his abilities, though, so he'd never asked her much about his demon half. Her son understood, as well as a child can understand, and referred to his demon side as the "secret Roger". Roger's teenage years were ones of tumult, moreso than the average person. With his hormones raging, Roger's ability to supress his electrical overload was become harder and harder. It seemed there was something inside him, almost a someone, scratching to try and get out. Roger was a late bloomer into puberty, already nineteen before he shot up and his shoulders broadened out and he was able to grow any stubble. It was also at this time when his hormones started going crazy in the locker room after football practice, when his eyes lingered on his friends a lot longer than he'd liked. Noticing men like this brought out a level of rage inside himself Roger wasn't used to. So he worked twice as hard to supress himself, which only seemed to double his fits of anger. It was during that time that brought about Dante. There would be chunks of time missing from Roger's day, time when his friends told him he'd been acting like a complete asshole and destroying library computers and burning out light bulbs. In college at the time, Roger dropped out of school, jumping in his car and driving home one night, leaving all his belongings at the school, not even saying goodbye to his roommate. He felt like he was losing his mind. The car kept stalling on the ride home, the radio and headlights flashing and popping. Roger held Zweeby in a death grip, trying to calm himself. Roger was diagnosed with DID, Disasossciative Identity Disorder. Having supressed his demon half his entire life without even trying to understand it, Roger had manifested inside himself another personality- Dante. Dante was every part of the demon inside Roger that he refused to accept. He was every part of himself that Roger was afraid of. He was, in essence, the demon. And as a demon, Dante had decided that he wasn't going to take the back seat to some wussy little human anymore. Humans, especially gay ones, were weaker and inferior. Roger had spent his whole life following the rules, acting how everyone wanted him to. Didn't he realize what kind of power was at his fingertips? Dante knew. And he planned to use it. Pam and Roger managed to cope with Dante for over a decade. Roger lived at home where he could be watched, where Pam could make sure he wasn't hurting anyone. She understood about Dante, about the demon. And for a long time that was enough. But as time went on, as Roger made friends and tried taking back his life, Dante countered with an electrical fit that shorted out ever appliance on the street, overheated the wires in the house and burned the duplex down. It was pretty clear that they needed professional help, but human doctors wouldn't know how to handle this. That's when Pam remembered the school she had found when she's first met Beck, when she'd been looking up all the information she could on demons. It had been 32 years ago, but she was hopeful. Family: Pamela Bates, mother Beck, father (unknown) Weakness: Aversion to all things holy. Gets a little twitchy in water. Magical Abilities: Can conduct, create and channel electrical currents. Can shock people, and with enough practice and energy could electrocute someone. Special Skills: Capable of shorting out computers, appliances, light fixtures, sometimes cell phones. Knows how to juggle, and can run a four minute mile. Room/Roommate: Sponsor: | ||||||||||
